Worcester, MA —  After an accomplished and impactful career dedicated to advancing senior care and post-acute services, Joan E. Cusson has announced her retirement following 13 years of leading Goddard/Homestead Senior Living Community. Her decades of leadership, innovation, and compassion have left a lasting mark on the organizations and communities she has served.

In 2012, Joan became the Executive Director of Goddard/Homestead, where her visionary leadership transformed the organization from an outdated senior living model into a vibrant, modern community designed to meet the evolving needs of older adults. Under her direction, the community expanded its continuum of care while strengthening its culture of dignity, engagement, and innovation.

“Joan’s legacy is one of transformation, compassion, and excellence,” said Kristine Binette, Vice President of Senior Living Operations. “We are deeply grateful for her years of service and wish her the very best in her well-earned retirement.”

Joan’s impact at Goddard and Hall includes her mentorship of Paul Sullivan, who has served as Program Director of Homestead Hall since 2018. Paul will assume the role of Executive Director of Goddard and Hall Senior Living.

Prior to Goddard/Homestead, Joan was employed at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she advanced from Director of Marketing and Admissions to Director of Philanthropy and Director of Business Development, helping to develop Holy Trinity Hospice and The Hospice Residence at the Washburn House.

Earlier in her career, she held clinical and leadership roles at NovaCare, Inc. and later supported post-acute providers through strategic marketing and operations work at the Polaris Group.

Joan looks forward to spending more time with family, pursuing personal interests, and remaining connected to the senior care community in new ways.
